After 18 weeks of dedicated writing, hand-holding, guiding, modeling, evaluating, trying it again, reading each others, having Mrs. Meredith read yours...it's time to write an essay on your own in a timed format.
Objective: I can write to a prompt over an extended time frame taking into account planning, organizing, drafting, editing & revising, and publishing. (Common Core Writing Standards 4 & 10)
Get out 2-4 pieces of looseleaf paper. You will be assigned a number to put on the top of your page which will be associated with you for the next couple of days during this writing assessment. DO NOT put your name on it.
Prompt: To finish your celebrity work & discussion, your teacher has asked you to write about which you would choose: a poem or a reflective essay to discuss the value of celebrity now in your life. With the poem you would write about your celebrity and what he/she means to society. For the reflective essay, you would write about your feelings towards our society now regarding the term celebrity and reflect on how we do or do not need to change.
Timeline Tuesday:
15 minutes planning & organizing
30 minutes drafting
Timeline Wednesday:
15 minutes editing/revising
30 minutes publishing

Grading - we'll go over the rubric as a class & practice grading one together so we're all on the same page
Peer Grading - you will grade THREE other people's papers utilizing the rubric.
Self-Evaluation - you will then get your paper back (with your number on it) and put your name on it now. Then grade yourself and write a reflection based on the questions provided.
